Weekly Construction Update – As part of the Richland Airport Electrical Replacement Project, the port will be issuing these weekly construction updates to keep airport users as well informed as possible in our attempt to limit the impact on users.
For the next several weeks, construction activity will be limited to Runway 1-19 and Taxiway A. From Monday mornings at 6 a.m., until Friday afternoons at 4 p.m., Runway 1-19 and Taxiway A will be closed for replacement of lights and underground wiring. Aircraft will be required to taxi from the main apron via Taxilane D and across the north apron to Taxiway B.
See attached exhibit map.
Both runways will be open on weekends, however, Runway 1-19 will not have lights for the remainder of the project. As a reminder, there will be no navigational lights, PAPIs, or approach lighting until the entire project is completed (other than the VASIs on Runway 8-26, which are currently operational).
Please be aware of, and cautious of the low-profile barricades along the taxiway connectors to Runway 1-19 and adjacent to Runway 8-26. Please make the effort to notify other pilots that you know that may not be familiar with the construction project.
