Weekly Construction Update – As part of the Richland Airport Electrical Replacement Project, the port will be issuing these weekly construction updates to keep airport users as well informed as possible in our attempt to limit the impact on users.
For this week, Runway 1-19 and Taxiway A will remain closed from Monday morning at 6 a.m. until Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. Aircraft are still required to taxi from the main Apron via Taxilane D and across the north Apron to Taxiway B.
See attached exhibit map.
On Monday, October 31, a vault in the middle of the main apron, in front of Sundance Aviation will be replaced. Please be cautious when taxiing in this area, as there will be equipment and personnel working.
Late in the week, crews will need to make the last wire pull from the tower to the intersection of the runways. This is through existing conduit and vaults, however, there will be workers adjacent to these vaults for periods of time. No vehicles should be blocking the taxilanes and personnel will move out of the way of any active aircraft.
As a reminder, there will be no navigational lights, PAPIs, or approach lighting until the entire project is completed, other than the VASIs on Runway 26, which are currently operational. The new PAPIs have not yet been received, so there is not yet an anticipated installation date.
Thank you for your continued patience throughout this project.
