Juneteenth Office Closure
Juneteenth Office Closure
The Port of Benton office will be closed on Monday, June 19th for the Juneteenth holiday. At the July 14, 2021 Commission meeting, the Port of Benton Commission signed Resolution 21-32, establishing June 19th, Juneteenth, as a holiday for Port of Benton employees. Resolution 21-32 recognizes the nation's new birth of freedom, with the emancipation of persons held in enslavement. The end of enslavement profoundly changed the nation, remaking the political system, restructuring the economy, restoring its honor in the community of progressive nations and renewing its national promise absent the stain of slavery. Port of Benton is committed to honoring Juneteenth as a day when the physical shackles were removed and the start of a movement towards freedom for all was born.
