Utility Inspections at Richland Airport
|
The City of Richland completed inspecting and testing of its fire hydrants at the Richland Airport in April. During the inspection, an unpermitted and unmetered water line connection to a private hangar was discovered and the City notified the Port. Upon further inspection, additional unmetered connections were located.
The Port takes this matter seriously, and we are coordinating efforts with the City to promptly address and rectify this issue.
The Port has begun to notify the developers, owners and tenants of the identified hangars. The Port has also hired a company to perform ground-penetrating radar tests on utility lines at the Airport to determine if there are any additional unpermitted water line connections.
Please be advised that the City has started performing locates to verify proper connections. Additionally, the company performing the radar test will be onsite in the coming weeks. Further inspections of additional areas at the airport may be required to complete the assessment. Future inspections of airport hangars throughout the property may be requested in the coming months and tenants and hangar owners will be notified separately with those requests.
If you are aware of an unpermitted or unmetered water line connection to your hangar, you can contact the City of Richland at 509-942-7794 or visit online at selfservice.ci.richland.wa.us/energov_prod/selfservice#/home to request a permit and/or meter installation. |
