Port to Buy Former Terminal Building at Richland Airport
Aviation Revitalization Board Approves $1.1 Million Low-Interest Loan for Purchase

RICHLAND, Wash. – Port of Benton will purchase the 12,000-square-foot former terminal building at its Richland Airport Business Park in the coming months to expand leasable space for aviation-related businesses and support the airport’s future growth.

The Community Aviation Revitalization Board (CARB) has approved the port for a $1.1 million low-interest loan, which will allow the port to execute a purchase and sale agreement for the building.

The Washington State Department of Transportation’s CARB loan program provides low-interest loans for revenue-producing projects to help public-use general aviation airports become more self-sustainable and less reliant on public funding.

“The building purchase is strategic for the Port and in line with Richland Airport’s Master Plan, which outlines future growth and development of the airport to benefit our region,” said Port Commission President Christy Rasmussen.

Located at 1845 Terminal Drive, the building was built in 1977 and was the commercial airport terminal for many years. That facility included a rental car facility, restaurant and office space. Over the years, the building has been home to several businesses.
