Port of Benton Names Summers Miya Public Information Officer
Richland, Wash. – Port of Benton has appointed Summers Miya as its Public Information Officer. She will serve as the official spokesperson for the port and lead collaborative and comprehensive communications strategies as chief consultant to all port departments.
Miya started with the port in March 2020 as Executive Administrator, primarily facilitating administrative processes of the port commission while assisting several port departments in day-to-day accounting and operational functions. She formerly worked for Visit Tri-Cities and has more than a decade of experience in communications and marketing.
“The port’s essential role in economic growth, trade and tourism for the community requires a voice that is concurrently empathetic and effective,” said Executive Director Diahann Howard. “Summers has a natural sense for communication and follow-through in working with the diverse community stakeholders and organizations we serve.”
Miya attended Washington State University with an emphasis in Communication and Marketing and recently completed a six-part course in graphic communication from California Institute of the Arts.
To connect with Summers in her new role, please email summers@portofbenton.com or call 509-375-3060.
