Prosser Airport Receives Federal Funding

August 26, 2025

RICHLAND, Wash. – Prosser Airport has received federal funding from the Federal Aviation Administration Airport Improvement Program (AIP).

The airport will receive $3 million this year to repair and seal cracks in pavement joints of the runway, taxiways, aprons and taxi lanes.

The federal grant will also fund upgrading the airport’s lighting to an LED system. This includes replacing runway and taxiway lights, lighted runway signs, approach and landing lights, runway end lights and lighted wind cones.

“These upgrades will enhance safety, reduce maintenance costs and improve energy efficiency at the airport,” said Quentin Wright, the port’s airport manager.

“We appreciate our partnership with the FAA to bring this much-needed project to the Prosser Airport,” said Diahann Howard, the port’s executive director.

Port of Benton has additional improvement projects planned at Prosser Airport through 2030, signaling a long-term commitment to enhancing general aviation in the region.

The Federal Aviation Administration AIP allocates $3.35 billion annually for planning and development of runway, taxiway, safety and sustainability projects on public use airports included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS).
